Finding meaning in politics in Amish Country
There’s been a lot of journalistic ink spilled on Trump Country in the past few years, but none of it has looked at the progressive revival going on there. So I went to Lancaster County to report on an uprising in Amish country, where a group called Lancaster Stands Up, and the congressional campaign of Jess King, aren’t merely threatening to turn this deep-red district blue, but bring it back to its roots along the way. It was, after all, once represented in Congress by abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens.
My story is here, with thanks to Briahna Gray for the edit. Warning: it’s very long, but I think you’ll be glad you read it.
